2015 New Years Resolutions
I don’t normally make resolutions in the traditional sense. I am not going to say “lose 20 lbs” or “workout 5 times a week.” They very much seem like a pass or fail type of thing when you should just be generally improving who you are and what you do, at whatever level you can.
Work on Savings/Debt
This last year decimated the savings that we normally have. In addition we have some credit cards that need to be paid off. We are lucky enough that Z found a great job that pays more than his previous jobs, we also moved into a smaller apartment and are saving over $200 a month on car insurance. I am doing more of our baking and preparing meals/lunches. While Z didn’t have a job, we really dropped a lot of our costs and now that we are having a good amount of money coming in, we are not really increasing them again. This is probably something I will talk about in more detail.
Work on German Skills
I grew up with German being spoken around my home sometimes, it was actually my sister’s first language. I passed into 4th semester of college German but never took it. Z did take some German in college and we would both like to make sure our child is getting foreign language from an early age. It is probably the easiest thing for both of us to pick up to a decent level. So this year we have a dual goal of working on our German skills, if that means just picking the basics back up because that is all we have time for, that is cool. If that means excelling to an amazing level, that is cool too. I think we are going to focus on working on Duolingo together, if you want to add me… find me here.
Write in my Blog Once per Week
OK…. I will actually do more of a resolution on this one. This year is going to bring massive changes to my life. I would love to share my experiences and lessons learned with others. I also need the motivation to keep cooking, reading and learning as I go along.
I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year’s Eve and a great start to the new year!
